Curriculum Vitaes

The main thing to remember here is the immense number of CV's
that agents and HR people see each day in their job.  Therefore your
CV needs grab their attention in that first glance and hold it long enough
for them to reach for the phone.

The fashion of the 'Book on my life' type of CV has now been replaced by the trend for the
eye-catching and brief.

Try to keep your CV to a page, or to an absolute maximum of two.  They don't really care what
you do in your spare time, what your blood type is, or even what your job in 1995 was.

Remember to tailor your CV to the agency or job you are applying for as well.  If you have a multitude
of IT skills pick out the most relevant for the job, and use your common sense.

If you are applying for a role as a database administrator you can be reasonably certain that they will
assume you are familiar with Office, word and excel.  (Although this should obviously be listed if you're
going for an admin role!)  Basic contact details, an overview of your skill set and your last job role or
two will suffice (and try to include a UK, or failing that one from home, referee).  Perhaps a passport
sized photo as well.

Remember, you can pad out the rest at your interview.  It will also leave you something to talk about!
