Harrods
Nearest Tube: Knightsbridge tube

This has to be on the top ten things to do in London.  The building itself is a true marvel, and experience shopping how it ought to be.  Avoid weekend crowds and visit on weekdays allowing plenty of time to wander it's halls.  Products are dedicated to rooms, and it's an eye extravaganza strolling through each masterpiece. Rooms include the Crystal Room, the Glassware Room, over sixty fashion halls and it also hosts a number of cafes, and a marvelous food hall where the presentation of the food will have your mouth watering.

There is a dress code: no visible tattoo's, no singlets, ripped jeans, short shorts.  They may wish to search your bag on entering, and remember to carry it by hand.  Photography is forbidden in all areas except at the memorial of Dodi and Diana.  Don't be put off by myths of how expensive Harrods is either.  Yes you will find fountain pens selling for thousands of pounds, but there is also a large number of products that cater for the more 'challenged' budget, and is a great place to look for that special gift.

Selfridges
Nearest Tube: Bond St tube

Another 'old-school' department store, and if you can't find it here it's unlikely you'll find it anywhere! They have great sales so keep your eye out at the end of each season.
