Visa's:
Remember to organise and obtain your visa
before leaving the country. You may just
arrive at the UK and receive an on-the-spot 6 month Holiday
Visa stamp, but this is not
guaranteed. Work
permits are not always necessarily enough to grant you entry for
the first
time into the UK either.
Bank
Accounts:
Where
possible - open a bank account
in the UK from your home country. Whilst it is not
impossible to open an account in the UK, it can be time consuming
and stressful.
Drivers'
Licenses:
You
can use your Drivers License for twelve months in the UK after arriving.
If you plan on staying
longer than this, you should obtain an International Driver's License.
This can be done either in your
home country and your local Automobile Association, or once in the
UK contact:
- DVLA
Swansea SA99 1BN
- Or
call 01792-772151.
Car
Insurance:
If you are planning to buy a car in London, get a no claims letter
from your car insurance company
from home, and it could save you up to 65% on your car insurance in
the UK (which has notoriously
high premiums).
