If you are planning on staying in one place for longer than a couple of months,
it may pay to register at the local NHS Doctor.  To register you will normally
need to take along some form of personal ID and evidence (a bill addressed to
you) of your current flat.  This is generally because you are supposed to register
with a doctor in the area that you live.

Seeing a GP is free, but registering can be a pain, and turning up to do this when you
already feel under weather can be almost unbearable.  Trying to decipher and complete forms
when you have a head full of flu is less than pleasant.

For emergencies and out of normal hours you may need to call in an NHS Hospital.
