National Health

If you do get caught out and need to see a doctor immediately, all of
the public hospitals offer a free walk in service at their A&E areas.  Be
warned however, expect waiting times of up to several hours.  Whilst you
are put in a queue, the most severely ill people get seen first.  Our only advice
is to get their as early in the morning as possible, and you may only end up waiting
one or two hours instead of the whole morning.

If you feel too ill to get to a doctor's surgery or A&E department, most surgeries off a home
visit - most of them have an answering service which will give you the relevant number to call in
your local area.  There is also a 24 hour Health Line to call, on 020 8677 8383.

Dental Care

Dental treatment in the UK is NOT free, and can be costly. Try to get all your check ups done at
home before entering the UK. In the case of emergencies, the Eastman Dental Hospital at:

256 Gray's Inn Road
WC1

is available and free to anyone without a Dentist in London. Again, expect to queue, and is not
available for general checkups or optional work. Hours: Mon-Fri 9.00 until noon, and then
re-opens between 2 - 4 pm.

FOR EMERGENCIES IN THE UK DIAL 999.
