Driving licence

NZ visitors to the UK wishing to drive should hold a valid, new format (lifetime) NZ driver's
licence. This may be used in the UK for 1 year, then must be exchanged for a UK licence.
The forms for the exchange of licences are available from Post Offices.

International Driving Permits (IDP) are compulsory in some countries. A motoring organisation
such as the AA can advise you. These permits are not issued at New Zealand House and are
available on NZ licences only from AA Offices in New Zealand. Renewal is possible through the
AA Office which issued the IDP, not through the UKAA, although the latter can issue an IDP if a UK
licence is presented.

General Elections

Voting for general elections takes place at New Zealand House in the three weeks leading up to election
day. New Zealanders wishing to vote should ensure they are eligible/on the electoral roll.

House of Commons

You may apply to the Commissionaires at the Front Desk of the New Zealand High Commission for
tickets to attend a debate at the House of Commons.

Information Point at the Consulate

Located on the ground floor of New Zealand House is the Information Point. It provides a range
of information for prospective tourists or immigrants; New Zealanders domiciled in the United
Kingdom and visitors from New Zealand. Information Point has been designed to cover the
different interests of visitors to New Zealand House and is open from 9.00 am - 5.00 pm.
Each Information Unit covers a different subject.

New Zealand newspapers can be read at the rimu reading desk and a daily summary
of major news from New Zealand is displayed.
