Australia-UK Social Security Agreement Terminated

The Social Security arrangement between Australia and the United Kingdom will be
dissolved.   This is due to a failure between the two countries on reaching an agreement on
continuing the existing policy.

What this means: Britons emigrating to Australia from March of next year will no longer have their
UK pensions topped up by the Australian Government.  Those pensioners now benefiting from the
currently standing agreement will not be affected.  This also applies to any person who claims and
receives a pension under the agreement before it ends.
